Please sign this petition to urge Lord Freud and the Department for Work and Pensions to take immediate action to ensure that night shelters are not forced to close due to the loss of Housing Benefit.

Please take urgent action to ensure that more night shelters are not forced to close due to the withdrawal of Housing Benefit.

The ruling in favour of Isle of Anglesey Council to deny Housing Benefit to a man staying in a night shelter on the grounds that it cannot be considered his ‘home’ could have unintended and devastating consequences for night shelters throughout England and Wales….

Night shelters provide an invaluable emergency service to some of the most vulnerable homeless people in England and Wales. As we see more and more people facing homelessness, it is vital that the Department for Work and Pensions takes immediate action to protect these crucial services.
